Notre-Dame de Victoire Cathedral of Yaoundé

The context marked by the strong progression of the Covid-19 pandemic and by restrictions now encroaches on the domain of God. Religious leaders of all stripes have taken special measures to support the government in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and for the spiritual guidance of their followers during this difficult time. All mosques are closed until further notice. For the Catholic Church, public liturgical celebrations are suspended, at the same time, the kiss of peace, the sprinkling of holy water and the use of holy water fonts are prohibited during this period of health crisis. Baptisms of young children and other sacraments which are postponed at a later date; confessions that will be made outdoors, etc. In the Diocese of Yaoundé, and for Mgr Jean MBARGA Metropolitan Archbishop of Yaoundé, “liturgical celebrations and particularly public Eucharistic celebrations are to be postponed until further notice; the priests will celebrate without the people of God but in communion with him and for his intentions, because a liturgical act even performed alone remains ecclesial ”.
